LEAD

At COAST ABATEMENT SERVICES, we safely, professionally, and quickly handle lead abatement. While we prioritize the quality and speed of our service, we like to go one step further. Implementing extensive safety protocols to ensure your health and safety remain our top priority.

Our lead abatement process includes:

  • We follow industry standards by isolating the work areas where lead-containing material(s) will be abated.
  • Our removal process adheres to all local, state, and federal regulations, utilizing wet methods, industrial HEPA vacuums, and any other necessary specialized procedures.
  • After completing the removal, our team further decontaminates the work areas by cleaning horizontal and vertical surfaces within the containments.
  • At the client’s request, we can leave the containments in place until a third-party lead inspector conducts an independent clearance inspection.
  • Regardless of whether the clearance inspection occurs, our technicians perform their visual assessment to ensure project specifications and your requirements are met.
  • Once we receive clearance, we promptly remove the containments from the property. All lead waste is then transported to an EPA-approved asbestos disposal site, in accordance with applicable regulations.

THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND

  • To ensure the safety of yourself, your family, and/or employees, use only CDPH certified lead abatement contractors, because it’s not worth the risk to save a few dollars.
  • The end cost of removing lead based paint and/or ceramic materials can be become far more expensive if it’s not done according to state and federal regulations in the first place; there may be fines plus additional costs to cleanup a site contaminated by improperly removed lead containing materials.
  • It is illegal to dump lead containing materials at an unauthorized waste disposal site (including municipal waste containers); doing so can result in heavy fines, cleanup costs, and in some cases, incarceration.

QUICK FACTS

  • What are common symptoms of lead poisoning? Lead poisoning can manifest in many different ways, however, common symptoms include abdominal pain, constipation, fatigue, headache, irritability, memory loss, reduced appetite, weakness, and tingling or pain in hands and feet. If you believe you or a family member may be experiencing lead poisoning, contact a medical professional for evaluation.
  • Do all older buildings have lead based paint? About two-thirds of homes built prior to 1940 and about one-half of homes built between 1940 and 1960 contain heavily-leaded paints.
  • I already know there is lead based paint in my home and I want to skip the abatement process and just begin working… is that allowed? Unless you follow all regulatory requirements, don’t CUT it, don’t DROP it, don’t SAND it, don’t SCRAPE it, don’t SCRUB it, don’t DISMANTLE it, don’t SANDBLAST it, don’t DEMOLISH it, and whatever you do, don’t DISPOSE of it. Instead, contact COAST ABATEMENT SERVICES to schedule your abatement by our qualified technicians to keep your family safe by using state-of-the-art procedures and equipment.
